The tree has drooping branches and a weeping crown shape. Leaves are evergreen, small, elongated, gray-green in color with a leathery texture. The variety is low-growing: under natural growth it can reach 6–8 meters, however, under intensive cultivation it is usually kept within 2–4 meters for ease of harvesting.

The variety is early, the harvest is collected from October to November. Fruiting begins in the 4th year and is characterized by high intensity and regularity. The plant has good cold resistance and is capable of adapting to saline soils. The oil of the variety is characterized by a mild taste with fruity notes and a high content of polyphenols.

Arbequina is widely used in intensive and super-intensive planting systems, which allows for the use of mechanized pruning and harvesting.
