The variety originates from the Penedès region, Catalonia. The trees have low growth vigor and a compact shape, making them suitable for mechanical harvesting. The variety is late-flowering and late-ripening.

The plant is sensitive to olive knot and Verticillium wilt, but resistant to peacock spot. The variety has low frost resistance and moderate drought tolerance. It is self-incompatible, therefore requiring pollinator varieties for crop formation.

The fruits are small. The resulting oil is distinguished by a balanced taste with notes of almond, apple, tomato, and green banana, and is characterized by high stability and antioxidant content.
