The variety is a historical local biotype of northeastern Italy. It is not intended for fresh consumption and is used for oil extraction, often in blends with other local varieties, such as Bianchera.

The variety's oil is distinguished by a complex fruity aroma with notes of fresh grass, almond, and artichoke. The taste is characterized by a balanced combination of sweetness, bitterness, and pungency, which gives the product its regional typicality.

The variety is found in mixed olive groves along with other varieties. In studies focused on the examination of viral diseases of olive trees in Italy, no viral infections were detected in samples of this variety in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region.
