The variety is one of three types of the Ogliarola group adapted to the conditions of Apulia. Due to the small size of the fruit, the variety is not used as a table olive and is used only to obtain Extra Virgin category oil, which possesses a medium-fruity flavor with slight bitterness and pepperiness.
The variety is classified as early-ripening: the fruits acquire a bluish hue by October, and upon full maturity, they turn dark blue or black. Trees of this variety are susceptible to infection by the bacterium Xylella fastidiosa subsp. pauca, which requires the application of specific protection protocols and agrotechnical measures.

Green indicates countries where the variety is listed in the national catalogue and its seeds are authorized for sale. Expired registrations are marked separately: the variety was previously admitted, but sale is no longer permitted.
