The Pico Limón variety is a tree of medium vigor with an upright canopy of medium density and elliptical-lanceolate leaves. The name of the variety is due to the presence of a small protrusion on the tip of the fruit, resembling a lemon. The fruits are characterized by a weight of 4–5 grams.
The plant is noted for high and regular yield, medium flowering time, and good rooting ability. The variety is resistant to drought, frost, and the fungal disease Spilocaea oleaginea, but is sensitive to infestation by the olive fruit fly and the olive moth Prays oleae.
The variety has a dual-purpose use, suitable both for oil production and for use as a table olive. The oil has a complex flavor profile with fruity notes, sweetness, bitterness, and a spicy aftertaste, and the table fruits are valued for their firm flesh.
