The variety originates from the south of France and is a product of folk selection. At the end of the 19th century, the variety was introduced to Australia for trials as a crop for fruit production.

In modern scientific reference sources, the variety is most often mentioned as an object of molecular genetic analysis for genotype identification and differentiation of French olive varieties. Detailed agrotechnical indicators, such as plant height, disease resistance, and quantitative yield characteristics, are not presented in publications.
