Olea europaea L. Olive · Fruit crops

Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety is traditional for the western part of the Savona province in Italy, where it is also known as Arnasca. The tree has smaller dimensions compared to the Taggiasca variety and possesses good cold resistance.

The fruits are small, round-shaped, and turn black upon full ripening. The variety is late-ripening and has historically been used in olive groves as a pollinator.

Oil from Pignola olives possesses a unique pine nut aroma, a slight bitterness, and a sweetness characteristic of Ligurian oils. The variety is often used in blends to create a balanced flavor profile.
