The Rossuola variety, also known as Resciola, is an indigenous cultivar of the Molise region. It is an old variety mentioned in historical agronomic surveys of the region since the beginning of the 20th century.
The main morphological feature of the fruit is the retention of a reddish hue until the stage of full maturity. The variety is primarily used for the production of monovarietal olive oil.
The cultivar is recognized as distinct, however, it differs from other olive varieties with similar names, such as Rosciola or Rosciola di Rotello, which are widely distributed in Italy.
