The variety is the result of landscape selection in the area of the town of Harta. The trees belong to the «Cigánymeggy» (Gypsy cherry) group, are prone to producing a large amount of root suckers, and their branches tend to become bare.
The fruits are characterized by a dark skin and flesh color, as well as the presence of intensely pigmented juice. The variety is considered primarily as a subject for scientific breeding programs aimed at studying genetic diversity and disease resistance.
