The name Heeringbær is a local synonym for the variety Stevnsbær. The trees have medium to strong vigor, forming a pyramidal crown that develops long drooping shoots over time. The variety is self-fertile, blooms early, and is considered undemanding regarding soil conditions.

The fruits are very small, flat-round, and dark red in color. The flesh is dark-colored, of medium firmness, with a high content of acids and anthocyanins, and separates well from the pit. Due to easy separation from the peduncle, the fruits are suitable for mechanical harvesting.

The variety possesses high resistance to Monilia and medium resistance to bacterial blight. On nitrogen-rich soils, it demonstrates high yield. It is used primarily for the production of juices, jams, and wine.
