Ujfehertoi furtos
ActivePrunus cerasus L. · Sour cherry
Ujfehertoi Gyumolcstermesztesi Kutato, H
10 August 2026
The tree is medium-sized, reaching a height of 2.5–3 meters, with a dense, spreading or weeping crown. The variety is characterized by high winter hardiness and resistance to diseases, particularly Monilinia fruit rot. Fruit ripening occurs at the end of July – beginning of August.
Fruits weighing 4–7 g have a round or round-heart shape and a dark red, almost black color. The taste is sweet and sour with a slight astringency. Due to its high acidity, the variety is classified as industrial and is intended for the production of juices, jams, liqueurs, compotes, and freezing.
The variety is self-fertile and does not require pollinators. Suitability for mechanical harvesting is due to the firmness of the fruit skin and the optimal force of detachment from the pedicel.
