The names Langeskov, Løvskal, Skælskørbær, Thorsager, Hadsundbær and Heeringbær represent local Danish names for one type of cherry known as Brunkirsebær. Studies at the Blangstedgaard experimental station revealed no morphological differences between these clones, and they have therefore been consolidated under the common name Stevnsbær.

The trees are characterized by medium to vigorous growth, forming a pyramidal crown with drooping shoots in mature plants. The late-ripening fruits are characterized by a very small size, dark red color, high acid and anthocyanin content, and medium flesh firmness.

The variety is self-fertile, tolerant to various soil types, possesses high resistance to Monilinia and medium resistance to fire blight. The fruits detach easily from the pedicel, making them suitable for mechanical harvesting, and are used primarily in processing for the production of juices, jams and wine.
