Fruits of the Nicolas variety possess high quality and reach a mass of 285–300 grams. Breeding work on the variety was conducted with the goal of obtaining resistance to such pathogens as fire blight, pear scab, and pear psylla, using genetic material of Pyrus serotina.
The variety is recommended for use in breeding programs as a parent form, as well as for cultivation in zones suitable for the pear crop. At the current moment, detailed characteristics of tree vigor and maturity group are not described in open sources.
