The variety is part of the breeding program of the Italian council CREA-OFA, aimed at diversifying production and updating the assortment of crops for the Emilia-Romagna region.
Work on the variety pursued the goals of adapting to market preferences and obtaining genotypes possessing tolerance to dangerous diseases of fruit trees, in particular to fire blight.
