The variety was obtained by crossing Rhododendron × kosterianum and Rhododendron prinophyllum. The plant forms a shrub reaching 2 meters in height and 2 meters in width at 20 years of age.
Flowering occurs in late May – first half of June. Slightly dome-shaped inflorescences contain about 12 flowers. The flowers themselves are white with drooping petal tips and a bright orange blotch inside.
The variety is characterized by full winter hardiness and is intended for ornamental gardening.
