The variety is a deciduous azalea obtained from a seedling as a result of crossing Rhododendron luteum. The plant was bred for ornamental landscaping and landscape design in the climatic conditions of Latvia.
The flowers of the variety are tubular-funnel-shaped, measuring approximately 60–70 by 60–70 mm. They are gathered in slightly domed inflorescences of 17 pieces.
