The variety is a large deciduous shrub. At 20 years of age, the plant reaches 3.2 m in height with a crown width of 2.5 m. The flowering period occurs from late May to the first half of June.
The flowers are simple, tubular-funnel-shaped, with a diameter of 6–8 cm. The coloration is delicate, clay-pink, with a characteristic bright yellow blotch on the upper petal. The variety is winter-hardy, tolerating temperatures down to –30°C, however, it requires protection from the bright spring sun and cultivation in acidic soils.
