Sheegene-20
ActiveVitis vinifera L. · Common grape vine
TIMOTHY SHEEHAN
10 August 2026
The variety has high vigor and a medium-late ripening period. The leaf is rounded, five-lobed, and deeply dissected. The bunch is medium or large, dense, and cylindrical or conical in shape. The berries are medium-sized, rounded or slightly oval, covered with a waxy bloom, and have juicy flesh and thick skin.
Catarratto is high-yielding, possesses high drought tolerance and adaptation to hot climates, but is not frost-resistant. The density of the bunches causes susceptibility to powdery mildew and gray mold. It is genetically related to the Garganega and Mantonico bianco varieties; it is believed that the well-known varieties of the cultivar are its clones.
