The variety is considered ancient, presumably brought to Southern Italy by Greek colonists. It is a local clone of the Greco variety that has adapted to soils rich in tuff. The vine is characterized by medium vigor. The leaf is medium-sized, rounded, three- or five-lobed, and slightly wrinkled.

The bunch is medium-sized, cylindrical-conical, and of medium density. The berries are medium, oval or round, green-golden in color, sometimes with brown speckles. The variety is late-ripening, demanding in care, sensitive to downy mildew and powdery mildew, and prone to flower drop, which causes unstable yields.

The grape belongs to wine varieties. It is distinguished by a high content of acids, sugars, and the presence of catechins. The fruits are used to create still, sparkling, and passito wines, which possess pronounced minerality and aging potential.
