The variety is a local Pyrenean cultivar being studied within the framework of genetic resource recovery programs in Aragon. It is characterized by high adaptability to various climatic conditions, in particular to acclimatization in the Ebro River valley.
Wines from the Greta variety possess an interesting thiol profile, are characterized by medium or low alcohol content and elevated malic acid levels. The variety is undergoing research for resistance to fungal trunk diseases, in particular Botryosphaeria dieback.
