The variety is a natural mutation of Pinot noir and received its name due to the dense white pubescence on the underside of the leaves. The plant is characterized by moderate vine vigor, late bud burst, which helps avoid spring frosts, and the ability to withstand temperatures down to -21°C. At the same time, the variety shows weak resistance to fungal diseases and requires full protection.

Morphologically, the variety is represented by small or medium-sized five-lobed leaves. The bunches are usually small or medium, compact and cylindrical; the berries are blue-black in color and have juicy pulp with a neutral taste. The variety is used for the production of sparkling, red, and rosé wines, which are distinguished by fresh acidity, moderate alcohol content, and notes of blackberry and cherry.
