The variety was bred in 1882 by the botanist Hermann Müller. Genetically, it is a hybrid of Riesling and Madeleine Royale. The growing season is approximately 139 days.
The vines have medium to high vigor. The leaves are five-lobed, rounded, and deeply dissected. The bunches are cylindrical-conical in shape, of medium density, weighing about 126 g. The berries are medium-sized, round, yellowish-white with a golden hue, and have thin to medium skin.
Frost resistance and resistance to grey mold are assessed as low; the variety requires specific climatic conditions. Its technical purpose includes the production of white dry and sparkling wines featuring aromas of peach, nutmeg, and a pleasant acidity.
