TORTOZONA TINTA is an uncommon grape variety discovered during projects to recover forgotten genotypes in Spanish regions such as Navarre, Aragon, Madrid, and Castile-La Mancha. The variety is a wine grape and is of interest due to its adaptability.

The plant is characterized by vigorous vegetative growth and a late ripening period, which occurs approximately two weeks later than the Garnacha variety. The variety shows moderate resistance to downy mildew and variable yields depending on weather conditions.

Wines made from this grape are characterized by aromas of violet and cherry, as well as flavor notes of berries and hazelnut. Under conditions of water deficit, the variety maintains high acidity and has the potential to produce quality wines comparable to the Merlot or Syrah varieties.
