Baladí Verdejo is a synonym for the traditional Spanish variety Cayetana blanca, which is widespread in the Córdoba region. The variety belongs to folk selection and has a very long history, numbering about a hundred different local names.
The plant belongs to late-maturing varieties. The leaf is rounded, five-lobed and slightly dissected; the flower is hermaphroditic. Bunches are medium-sized and conical in shape; density varies from medium to high. Berries are medium-sized, round, greenish-yellow in color, with thin skin and a waxy bloom.
The variety demonstrates high yield, but is sensitive to powdery mildew, gray mold, and mite infestation. The berries are juicy, with a neutral taste, and are used for the production of base-level wines, blends, and distillates for brandy.
