Grape variety Balada is a descendant of the variety Băbească neagră. The variety is intended for the production of red wines, including high-quality ones, and possesses the property of staining the must. The berry ripening period occurs from September 1 to September 15.
Bunches of the variety have an average weight of 150 to 190 g. The berries are distinguished by a thin dark blue skin and juicy pulp. Upon reaching maturity, sugar accumulation indicators are 197–200 g/l with a total must acidity of about 5.5 g/l. The production potential of the variety reaches 17 tons per hectare.
