The name Beli refošk in Slovenia, particularly in the Kras and Vipava Valley regions, is used as a secondary name for the Vitovska grganja variety. Also, in a number of sources, this name is encountered as a synonym for the Glera variety, which is used for the production of Prosecco.

Since Beli refošk is a historical synonym and not a breeding variety, it has no originator or date of development. The use of this name in nursery registers, such as Trsnica Vrhpolje, is of an auxiliary nature for the identification of autochthonous planting material by local winegrowers.
