Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety is autochthonous to Italy and originates from Sicily. It belongs to wine varieties used both for single-varietal wines and blends. The vine is characterized by high vigor and good cane maturation, while being characterized by low yield.

The medium-sized leaf has a reticulate-wrinkled surface and slight pubescence along the veins. The flower is hermaphroditic. The bunches are cylindro-conical in shape, medium density, with a weight of about 260 g. The berries are medium-sized, dark blue with a thick waxy bloom, having thick skin and juicy pulp.

The variety is adapted to a hot, arid Mediterranean climate and prefers short pruning. The grapes are capable of accumulating high sugar content with moderate acidity. Wines made from it possess a characteristic cherry-red color and aging potential.
