The variety has medium vigor and is prone to early bud burst, which makes it vulnerable to spring frosts. It possesses moderately low fertility, requiring long pruning. The variety is susceptible to powdery mildew, downy mildew, grey mold, and sunburn.
Bunches are medium-sized, conical, and of medium density. Berries are medium-sized, spherical, dark blue or black in color with thick skin and colorless juicy pulp. Wines from this variety are distinguished by high acidity and aromas of cherry, cranberry, black pepper, and floral notes.
Technical variety, often used in blends to provide structure and freshness. Due to the high tannin content and thick berry skin, carbonic maceration or aging in oak barrels are used in production.
