The variety is intended exclusively for the production of white wines, which are characterized by herbaceous notes, aromas of pineapple and white fruits, as well as saline freshness. In the region of origin, there is a historical practice of cultivating vines on supports and pergolas at significant heights, which influences the style and alcohol level of the final product.
In the past, the variety name was often confused with other varieties, including Savagnin Blanc. Furthermore, the names Caínho Preto or Caínho Tinto in a number of sources refer to other grape varieties, therefore in official catalogs this variety is identified exclusively under the designation Caínho B as an independent white variety.
