Variety description

The variety is grown in the northwest of Sardinia and is a rare indigenous species. The leaf is pentagonal, five-lobed, with red veins. Bunches are medium to large in size, compact, and conical in shape. Berries are small, oval, black in color with a waxy bloom and colorless juicy pulp.

The variety is characterized by good yield, but is difficult to care for: it is susceptible to fungal diseases, sensitive to heat above 40°C, and prone to berry cracking during precipitation. It prefers calcareous-clayey, loose, and sunny soils. Harvesting is usually carried out in the second half of September.

It is used exclusively for winemaking, both for blends and for creating varietal wines. The wines have a deep ruby color, good acidity, and soft tannins. The bouquet exhibits notes of plum, wild berries, black pepper, and balsamic nuances.
