The variety is a complex interspecific hybrid containing genetic material from several species of the genus Vitis. The crop is characterized by a late ripening period, vigorous growth, and high yield. The plant possesses resistance to downy mildew and black rot, which reduces the need for fungicide treatments.

It belongs to the category of teinturier varieties, as it has colored berry pulp. It is used exclusively for wine production: both as a single-varietal wine and in blends. The resulting wines have an intense color, a spicy aroma with notes of dark berries, and a full-bodied taste.
