Furmint Kt.4 is the result of clonal selection aimed at increasing the productivity and quality of planting material of the base variety Furmint. The designation "Kt." indicates that the work was carried out within the framework of Hungarian state research programs for grape improvement.

This clone is intended for the production of high-quality white wines and is oriented toward modern farming methods, including the use of high-stem training systems and mechanized cultivation. The selection work also aimed at improving the health of the material and obtaining virus-free seedlings.
