This clone is a specialized breeding subject intended for professional winemaking. It was selected during long-term programs of the institute aimed at preserving genetic resources and obtaining planting material suitable for the production of high-quality wines.

As a breeding clone, Furmint P.2 is officially recognized in the National List of Varieties of Hungary. Its morphological and economic traits generally correspond to the characteristics of the parent variety Furmint, while specific agrotechnical indicators for the clone are not published separately.
