The variety belongs to autochthonous Hungarian grapes, known since the 16th century. The growing season is approximately 165 days. The vine has medium vigor and perfect flowers. The leaves are medium or large in size, round, five-lobed, with tomentose pubescence on the underside.
The clusters are of medium density, have a cylindrical or cylindrical-conical shape, and a mass of 100–120 g. The berries are medium, round, yellowish-green, sometimes with a brown tan, and contain juicy, melting flesh. The variety prefers a warm climate and well-drained soils of volcanic or limestone origin.
The plant has low resistance to powdery mildew, gray mold, crown gall, phylloxera, and winter frosts, while being resistant to noble rot Botrytis cinerea. Furmint is characterized by high acidity and is used for creating wines with aging potential.
