The Kadarun grape variety is represented by black (Kadarun Crni) and white (Kadarun Bijeli) varieties. The variety is autochthonous to the Balkan Peninsula, in particular to the Dalmatia region in Croatia, where it is currently grown sporadically, mainly in the Konavle area.

The plant belongs to wine grape varieties of late maturity. In terms of productivity, the variety is inferior to other local grape varieties, which has led to a reduction in its cultivation area and its status as a rare, endangered variety. In some sources, the white variety is indicated as a synonym for the Dimyat variety.
