The Kober 5BB variety and its selection clone Craciunel 2 represent a rootstock grape not intended for berry production. The crop is characterized by high resistance to grape phylloxera and good drought tolerance, imparting very high vigor to grafted varieties.

The plant adapts well to soils with high active lime content up to 20–35% and prefers deep, permeable soils. Graft compatibility with most scion varieties is rated as good, although the vigorous vegetative growth of the rootstock may slightly delay harvest maturity dates.

The flower is functionally female; during flowering, small loose clusters with small black juicy berries may form, however, the variety is not cultivated for fruit harvesting.
