The Kober 5BB rootstock possesses very high growth vigor, which it transmits to the scion. The plant is well-adapted to various soil types, being particularly suitable for moist clay and loam soils.

The variety exhibits high resistance to phylloxera, as well as good resistance to nematodes and calcareous soils. Features of the rootstock include a tendency to delay scion maturation, a risk of blossom drop in sensitive varieties, and increased susceptibility to Botrytis cinerea.

Poor compatibility of Kober 5BB with certain clones of Sauvignon and Cabernet Sauvignon varieties is noted. There is no information in open sources regarding a specific subspecies or the M54 marking.
