The variety is an intergeneric hybrid obtained by crossing Vitis vinifera, Muscadinia rotundifolia, and the 140 Ruggeri rootstock. Its main purpose is the control of the dagger nematode, which transmits the grapevine fanleaf virus.
The plant is characterized by very slow growth, low rooting success, and low drought tolerance. It possesses resistance to active limestone of up to 15%, but has low to moderate tolerance to iron chlorosis.
Morphologically, it is characterized by entire, kidney-shaped leaves of small to medium size and hermaphrodite flowers. The berries are very small, round, black-blue in color, with a 'foxy' flavor. The use of this rootstock may reduce yield indicators and the weight of the scion vine.
