The variety is mid-late, with berry ripening occurring at the end of September or beginning of October. The vine has vigorous growth. Leaves are medium, five-lobed. Clusters are large, elongated, weighing 300–350 g. Berries are medium-sized, round, dark blue or black-violet in color with bloom.
The variety is highly resistant to drought and hot climates, as well as to downy mildew and powdery mildew. It is used exclusively for winemaking, both for single-varietal wines and in blends with other varieties. The resulting wines are characterized by high alcohol content, tannins, and pronounced fruit notes.
