The variety belongs to the species Vitis vinifera L. and possesses high vigor. It is a late-maturing variety, ripening approximately 30 days after the Gouais blanc variety. The plant is characterized by high yield and good disease resistance.
The berries have a dark color. The resulting wines are noted for moderate alcohol content, low acidity, and soft tannins. In blends, the variety acts as a softening agent, imparting roundness and fruit notes of blueberry, plum, and cherry to the wines.
The variety is considered rare, and its planting areas are limited. Historically, the origin of the variety is linked to the Naoussa region, and currently, it maintains significance as a component of terroir wines with the Protected Designation of Origin Goumenissa.
