The variety is a 'grey' mutation of the Piquepoul noir variety and is cultivated in the south of France. The plant is characterized by vigorous growth, late flowering, and late berry ripening. Short vine pruning is recommended during cultivation. The variety is susceptible to diseases, particularly powdery mildew, and prefers sandy or stony soils with moderate fertility.
The bunches and berries of the variety are of medium size; the bunches are compact. Upon reaching maturity, the berries acquire a grayish or pinkish hue. The variety is used exclusively in winemaking for creating still dry and rosé wines. The resulting product is characterized by high acidity, distinct texture, and fruity notes, making this variety a valuable component for blends.
