The variety is mid-to-late maturing, characterized by vigorous vine growth and high productivity. The berries are black. Wines produced from this grape are noted for pronounced tannins.
The plant is relatively susceptible to downy mildew, powdery mildew, and grey mold, which requires careful canopy management. The vine is brittle and can be prone to damage from strong winds.
