The variety is of Central European origin, historically associated with the Lower Styria region. The growing period from bud burst to berry maturity is approximately 129 days with a sum of active temperatures of 2650°C. The plant is characterized by vigorous shoot growth.
The variety is sensitive to winter frosts and spring frosts due to early bud burst, and also possesses low resistance to downy mildew, powdery mildew, grey mold, and wind exposure. Yield is high, reaching 160 hl/ha.
Bunches and berries are of medium size; berries are round, dark blue in color with juicy flesh. The variety is used for the production of red and rosé wines, which are characterized by lightness, soft tannins, and moderate to low acidity.
