The variety originates from Lower Styria and is the result of crossing the Blau Zimmettraube and Grüner Silvaner varieties. The plant is characterized by early bud break, which makes it vulnerable to spring frosts. The leaves are medium to large in size; the bunches are medium, cylindrical, often winged and compact. The berries are black-blue in color, medium or large, and have a thin but resistant skin.
The variety has high productivity and requires load control to maintain product quality. It is adapted to sandy, moderately dry, and poor soils. It has low resistance to downy mildew, powdery mildew, and grey mold, and is also sensitive to winter frosts and wind. Wines made from this grape are characterized by moderate acidity, soft tannins, and fruity aromas of strawberry and cherry.
