The name is not a unique designation for an individual variety but is a historical synonym used to refer to various vines in Slovenia and northwestern Croatia. In literature, varieties such as Blaue Zimmettraube, Vrhpoljec, or Tičenska črnina could be described under this name.
Plants of this group historically had a functionally female flower type, which made them dependent on cross-pollination and led to unstable productivity depending on weather conditions. Grapes of this type were used both in winemaking and as table grapes, but precise identification of a specific vine requires genetic analysis.
