The Pošip variety (also known as Pošip bijeli, Pošipica, or Pošipak) originated from the natural cross-breeding of the Bratkovina bijela and Zlatarica blatska varieties. It is a grape with large bunches and elongated, pointed berries that is well adapted to the arid conditions of sandy soils.

Wine products from this variety possess a full body and potential for aging; alcohol content typically varies from 12 to 13%. In addition to dry wines, the variety is used for the production of Prošek dessert wine. There is a separate black wine variety with a similar name, which requires clear distinction during classification.
