The variety is indigenous to southeastern Spain, historically grown in Valencia, Alicante, and Murcia. The berries are golden-yellow in color, spherical, small in size, with thin skins; the bunches are medium-sized. The grape is adapted to the Mediterranean climate and is cultivated at altitudes of up to 700 meters on calcareous-clay soils.
Wines from Verdil possess intense aromatics with hints of lemon, lime, green apple, white flowers, quince, herbs, and almonds. The variety is prone to oxidation, which requires special attention during vinification. It is used both for monovarietal wines and in blends with Moscatel, Macabeo, Chardonnay, and Viognier varieties.
