The vine of the variety has high vigor, features five-lobed leaves of medium or large size, and hermaphroditic flowers. The bunches and berries are medium or large, round-shaped, and greenish-yellow in color, sometimes with a slight blush upon ripening. The variety is thermophilic, has low winter hardiness, and is sensitive to downy mildew and the vine moth.
The plant develops best in coastal areas on poor, infertile soils. The variety is characterized by high yield and is used for the production of dry white wines possessing freshness, pronounced minerality, and aromas of citrus, pear, and white flowers. Synonyms of the variety are Rolle, Pigato, Favorita, and Malvoisie.
