The variety is autochthonous to Portugal and is included in national catalogs as a wine grape variety recommended for cultivation in various wine-growing regions, including Douro and Dão. In literature, it may be mentioned as a synonym for the variety Alva Verdial.

The use of the variety is limited to wine production, where it is used in multi-varietal plantings to create balanced blends. Detailed morphological characteristics of the plant are virtually absent in open publications.
