The variety is autochthonous to the Isère region in France. It is genetically related to the Savagnin variety. The variety is primarily for winemaking, rarely used as a table grape.

Leaves are small, dark green, and five-lobed. Clusters are small or medium, conical in shape. Berries are small or medium, oval, golden-white in color with thick skin. Flowers are hermaphroditic.

The variety is characterized by low resistance to powdery mildew and downy mildew, while possessing good resistance to grey mold. In professional viticulture, clone 931 is officially authorized for use.
